Kelly’s practice includes patent and trademark prosecution, strategic patent portfolio counseling, and intellectual property licensing and enforcement management. Kelly specializes in building creative and customized intellectual property strategies for clients in all stages of growth.

Prior to founding Keller Jolley Preece, Kelly served as General Counsel for an LED technology company focused on semiconductor applications in the dental, medical, and lighting industries. Kelly’s expertise in strategic patent portfolio management, along his strength in license negotiation and patent litigation management, generated millions of dollars of revenue to support company growth.

Kelly has been voted by his peers throughout the state of Utah as one of Utah’s “Legal Elite” in the category of Intellectual Property as published in Utah Business Magazine. He has also been recognized multiple times by Super Lawyers Magazine as a Rising Star in Intellectual Property Law.

Prior to attending law school, Kelly gained hands-on industry experience working at one of the world’s largest manufacturers of industrial flow equipment for chemical, mining, and oil and gas applications.

An avid trekker, Kelly has scaled most of the peaks along the Wasatch Front. He also enjoys camping with his family in the scenic outdoor venues of Utah.
